Job summary

Polaris Education - Elmy Hall School, Northwich, is seeking a dedicated One-to-One Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 5 to 16 with diverse needs. This full-time, 12-month fixed term post is term-time only, based at our Northwich campus.

You will mentor and assist a pupil or small group, help with lesson delivery, monitor progress, and contribute to a safe, nurturing learning environment in partnership with experienced staff.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C or equivalent.
• Previous Teaching Assistant experience.
• Experience with SEMH in educational settings.
• Willingness to take additional responsibilities (e.g., food hygiene, forest school, lunchtimes, yoga).
• Experience of behaviour management.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil, or a small group of up to six.
• Support the classroom teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils’ progress and liaise with staff to meet needs.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time and activities.
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
• Set work and mark as appropriate.
• Build positive relationships to promote learning.
