Job summary

SWRAC is recruiting Learning Support Assistants (One-to-One) at our Widnes Centre to help young adults with SEND achieve their goals in education and employment. The role is full-time, Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, with a lunch break, and may involve working at other centres.

You will support learners with LDD/SEND in classrooms, provide one-to-one support, and contribute to ILPs while collaborating with colleagues across settings. DBS checks are part of safeguarding commitments.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Maths and English (or equivalent essential).
• Level 2/3 Qualification in learning support or equivalent.
• Experience with SEND and working with young adults.

Responsibilities

• To support learners with LDD/SEND in a variety of classroom settings.
• To provide one-to-one support as directed by the Head of Learning or the class tutor.
• Provide learning support within a group and on an individual basis.
• To act as a scribe/reader/exam invigilator as required.
• To support students during breaks.
• To contribute to learners’ ILPs.
• To work closely with team members to ensure that ILP targets are monitored and reviewed.
• To be aware of individual learners’ risk assessments and needs.
• To support learners to access transport and with travel training
• To accompany learners during work experience placements, both on and off-site
• Accompany learners on outings, visits, community and recreational activities
• Encourage independence and self-help skills wherever possible.
• Keep records associated with the support role.
• To undertake any other duties relevant to the role as required
