Job summary

Maynards Green Community Primary School is seeking an Individual Needs Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a primary-aged pupil in an adapted learning environment on a six-month fixed-term, part-time basis during term-time.

The role focuses on building trust, running a flexible, interest-led day through games, crafts, outdoor play and sensory breaks, rather than classroom teaching, and requires a calm, caring approach.

Qualifications

• Calm, caring approach suitable for a primary pupil.
• Experience or ability to engage a child in 1:1 activities with patience.

Responsibilities

• Build trust with the child, helping them feel safe, supported and understood
• Facilitate a flexible, interest-led day
• Support the child's emotional regulation
• Guide gentle social connections
• Deliver custom 1:1 learning through games, crafts, outdoor play and interest-led projects
• Facilitate regular sensory breaks, movement activities and quiet time
• Work with the established team to keep routines smooth, positive and low-stress
