Job Description

We’re looking for a Shift Leader at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco, to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will oversee store activities, run duty shifts, and coordinate a team to ensure a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.

The role focuses on improving customer service through coaching, understanding store performance, and implementing practical improvements.

You will ensure the store remains a safe environment for both staff and customers.

You will be Responsible For

• Leading the team to provide excellent shopping experiences.
• Opening and closing the store, managing duty cover, and making customer and safety-focused decisions.
• Serving as the point of contact for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Supporting store events and creating an inclusive atmosphere.
• Maintaining store cleanliness and presentation.
• Prioritizing product replenishment based on customer needs.
• Ensuring accurate pricing and signage.
• Handling overcharges and preventing reoccurrences.
• Managing queues to enhance customer experience.
• Scheduling staff breaks and daily priorities.
• Monitoring store performance and implementing improvements.
• Following health and safety routines.
• Communicating effectively with the team.
• Suggesting operational improvements to the Store Manager.
• Focusing on customer needs and resolving queries.
• Recognizing colleagues' excellent service.
• Addressing obstacles to service delivery.
• Handling colleague queries or escalating issues.
• Managing staffing levels, including short-term absences.
• Acting as Keyholder, including alarm response.
• Ensuring internal communications are followed up.
• Balancing service and replenishment tasks.
• Supporting absence management and return-to-work processes.
• Building relationships with managers and HR partners.
• If the store has a Post Office Local, duties include Post Office operations, requiring background checks which must be passed to proceed.
