Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Ward Manager to lead Ward D12, a 24-bed oncology unit, for 12 months on a fixed-term/secondment basis. The post requires strong cancer care experience and nursing leadership within a multidisciplinary team.

The appointable candidate will oversee chemotherapy administration, support care group leadership, and contribute to the Trust’s Patients First, Always Improving, Working Together values.

Qualifications

• 1st Level Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC Register.
• Recognised mentorship qualification and experience as a Sign Off mentor.
• Degree or working towards.
• Completion of appropriate specialty Course.
• Higher Education Institute approved course in supporting learners in practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead Ward D12 on a 12 month Fixed Term / secondment.
• Manage a 24-bed oncology ward (D12) with side rooms and bays.
• Provide clinical leadership and staffing decisions for Cancer Care.
• Coordinate day-to-day unit operations and supervise nursing staff.
• Deputise for care group matrons as needed and support the Cancer Nursing Vision.
