Job description

Full time - 37 hours per week
£26.337 per annum pro rata
6-months contract
Hybrid working

Help people start their journey with Avenues on the right foot!

We’re looking for an organised, proactive and people-focused Onboarding Coordinator to join our Onboarding team on a 6-months contract.

Our Onboarding team works as part of the wider People Compliance Team (HR).

If you enjoy bringing order to a busy workload, have a keen eye for detail and love helping people get off to a great start, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Your role will help ensure our new colleagues are ready to join them!

What’s in it for you?

  • Hybrid working: Work from home, with currently 1–2 days per week at our Sidcup office.
  • A great work-life balance.
  • A supportive team: Join a collaborative Onboarding department where your contribution matters.
  • Meaningful work: Play a key role in ensuring new colleagues have a smooth, positive and compliant start to their Avenues journey.

What will you be doing?

Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, you’ll help deliver a first-class onboarding experience for our new employees, ensuring everything is in place for them to join us.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating the onboarding journey: Manage the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring all activities are completed in line with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Keeping everything on track: Provide proactive administrative support to key operational areas, ensuring the necessary pre-employment checks are completed and legal and statutory requirements are met.
  • Supporting our managers: Offer clear advice and guidance to managers and colleagues on onboarding processes, escalating more complex queries to the People Compliance Manager.
  • Maintaining accurate records: Manage and maintain the onboarding area of our Applicant Tracking System, ensuring information is accurate, up to date and readily accessible.
  • Putting people first: Understand our organisation, the services we provide and our values, helping us bring the right people into our teams.

You’ll ideally bring experience of employee onboarding within a medium-sized organisation, or experience in a similar administrative role.

You’ll also have:

  • An understanding of UK and European employment legislation.
  • Experience using databases to store, manage and retrieve information.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications in a professional environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills, a proactive approach and the ability to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, particularly when handling employee information and compliance checks.
  • Experience in social care or education would be an advantage.

Most importantly, you’ll enjoy supporting others, take pride in getting things right and understand the importance of a smooth, professional onboarding experience.

Please refer to the role profile for the full responsibilities and essential and desirable criteria for the position.
