St Catharine’s College in Cambridge invites applications for a Senior IT & AV Engineer to help deliver reliable, secure IT and AV services across academic, administrative and operational needs. The role provides expert technical support, acts as a senior escalation point for staff, students, Fellows and guests, and leads on maintaining and developing the College’s IT infrastructure and AV systems.

This is a permanent, in-person post; 37.5 hours per week, core hours 10:00–16:00 and a salary range

Responsibilities

• Act as a senior point of contact for IT and AV support to staff, students, Fellows and College guests, providing expert technical advice, troubleshooting and resolution across a broad range of systems and services.
• Provide day-to-day technical guidance and co-ordination for other members of the support team, acting as an escalation point for complex incidents and helping to maintain consistent standards of service delivery.
• Provide specialist technical administration, maintenance and support across the College’s IT infrastructure and services, including wired and wireless network infrastructure, DNS, DHCP, IP addressing and associated infrastructure services.
• Network performance, resilience and security, including the investigation and resolution of complex connectivity and Wi‑Fi issues; server infrastructure and associated hardware and software; staff, student, administrative and Fellows’ computing facilities; and the security of College networks, systems and endpoint devices.
• Providing technical support for the College’s AV and meeting-room facilities, including diagnosis of faults, maintenance of systems and support for significant College meetings, events and conferences where required.
• Planning and delivering IT infrastructure and service‑improvement projects under the guidance of the Head of IT and IT Manager, contributing to the development of the College’s IT services and medium‑term technical planning.
