Job summary

STL Energy Limited in Hereford is seeking an Operations Director to lead the day-to-day running of its anaerobic digestion plants. You’ll be the senior on site, accountable for safe, efficient and compliant operation, while managing a team and budget for spares and parts.

The role blends hands-on problem solving with strategic planning, coordinating maintenance, breakdown response, contractor oversight, and regulatory reporting. A strong engineering background and proven leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing or supervising a process/industrial plant.
• Experience in anaerobic digestion or continuous-process environments preferred.
• Ability to plan PPM schedules and manage breakdown response.
• Experience managing a small team with shift planning and on-call support.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedule for all plant assets, ensuring timely servicing.
• Lead breakdown response and emergency repairs, including out-of-hours calls.
• Manage relationships with equipment manufacturers, service contractors, and engineers, including contracts.
• Maintain maintenance records and asset history for warranty, insurance, and permits.
• Identify recurring failures and drive reliability improvements to reduce downtime.
