Job summary

The Sterling Choice is seeking a qualified Financial Controller to own the UK entity’s numbers and partner with operations to improve cost, margin and commercial performance. The role is predominantly on-site in Cambridge and involves ensuring accurate monthly close and UK statutory reporting.

You will review bills of materials, manufacturing costs, and variances, while maintaining inventory valuations and cost processes. Experience in manufacturing finance and ERP systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified accounting designation (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) and hands-on finance experience in manufacturing or engineering.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing finance, inventory valuation and product costing.
• Experience with month-end close, budgeting, forecasting and statutory reporting in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Own the UK entity financial statements and monthly close, including group reporting.
• Manage balance-sheet reconciliations, journals and financial controls.
• Lead budgets, forecasts, cash flow and working capital for the UK entity.
• Oversee UK statutory reporting, VAT, corporation tax, payroll and pension compliance.
• Maintain inventory and WIP valuations and review BOMs and overheads.
• Improve costing, margins and business partnering with operations.
• Support quotations and customer profitability decisions and provide operational reporting.
