Job summary

Pertemps Gloucester (Chiltern) Industrial is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer in Bourton-on-the-Water. The role covers planned maintenance, breakdowns, fault finding, repairs and continuous improvement to maximise equipment reliability and production uptime.

You should have at least 3 years in a similar role, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to read technical documentation. On-site, permanent, with a salary of £34,000–£36,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in a Maintenance Engineer role or similar.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdowns.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and tech docs.
• Good IT skills including MS Office; able to share reports clearly.
• Strong communication across production and engineering teams.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment; basic fabrication is a plus.
• A driving licence and access to a vehicle is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on production equipment.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and stoppages.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and pneumatic faults.
• Carry out repairs and ensure safe, operational condition.
• Investigate recurring failures and suggest corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
• Support engineering projects, upgrades and process improvements.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability, safety and efficiency.
• Lead or support continuous improvement projects when required.
• Produce simple fixtures, jigs, brackets and tooling as needed.
