Job summary

Referment is recruiting a Health & Safety Advisor to support major construction projects across the Oxford and Reading area. This fully site-based role requires a hands-on health and safety professional who works closely with operational teams to maintain high standards on complex sites.

You will provide practical guidance, carry out inspections and audits, investigate incidents and ensure health and safety requirements are understood and applied on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years' experience in a Health & Safety role within construction.
• Experience in civil engineering, reinforced concrete, infrastructure or structural construction.
• Recognised health and safety qualification, ideally NEBOSH Construction or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and construction industry requirements.
• Ability to challenge unsafe practices and influence teams at all levels.
• Practical, site-focused approach and ability to build effective relationships.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work on site five days per week in the Oxford and Reading area.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day health and safety guidance to site and project teams.
• Carry out regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
• Support development and implementation of project-specific health and safety plans.
• Review risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and unsafe practices, identifying corrective actions.
• Deliver briefings and support workforce engagement on health and safety matters.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance and promote high standards across the project.
• Produce clear reports and contribute to ongoing improvements in health and safety performance.
