Job summary

Amey on-site Electrician role at Hinkley Point A Site, Bridgwater, Somerset, offering a permanent position. You will deliver planned and reactive electrical maintenance to keep site operations compliant and reliable in a highly regulated environment.

37.5 hours per week (7:30am-5:00pm Mon-Thu). Candidates with Level 2 or 3 qualifications considered; Level 3 preferred. BPSS pre-employment screening applies. Amey supports diversity and career growth.

Qualifications

  • Technical qualification in electrical discipline (Level 2/3 or equivalent).
  • BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations knowledge (18th Edition).
  • Understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations and safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Test and inspect electrical installations per IEE/IEE regulations.
  • Respond to breakdowns and carry out safe, efficient repairs.
  • Carry out planned and preventative electrical maintenance and replace faulty components.
  • Perform fault finding and problem solving on domestic electrical systems.
  • Carry out installations as per designs and IET Wiring Regulations.
  • Monitor and order critical spares and oversee the BMS system.
  • Support zero-carbon initiatives and sustainability goals.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent on-site Electrician to come and join our team on our Nuclear Restoration services account in Somerset, Hinkley Point A Site, Bridgwater, TA5 1YA.


Our Nuclear Restoration Services account at Hinkley Point A in Somerset supports the safe, secure and efficient operation of a complex nuclear environment through high-quality facilities and engineering services. As an Electrician, you will play a key role in delivering planned and reactive electrical maintenance, helping to keep site operations compliant, reliable and running smoothly within a highly regulated setting.


The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week (shift pattern 7.30am- 5pm Monday to Thursday only)

Previous experience with planned preventative maintenance is preferred but not essential. While a Level 3 qualification is preferred, we are open to interviewing candidates with a Level 2 qualification.


What You Will Do


  • Ensuring Health & Safety standards are met across the contract

  • Testing and inspecting electrical installations in line with current IEE wiring regulations

  • Responding promptly to breakdowns, ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently

  • Performing planned and preventative electrical maintenance and diagnosing/replacing failed domestic electrical components

  • Actively fault finding and problem solving on domestic electrical systems

  • Undertaking electrical installation activities according to provided designs and IET Wiring Regulations

  • Monitoring and ordering critical spares for all electrical services, and oversee the BMS System

  • Supporting zero carbon initiatives, contributing to sustainability goals, and handling additional tasks as directed by your line manager


What You Will Bring


  • Appropriate technical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or above).

  • BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition.

  • Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.

  • Experience of electrical maintenance activities, general distribution, installation, and testing.

  • Ability to work alone and use initiative.

  • Capable of working at heights.


This role is subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. BPSS is a pre-employment screening process and includes verification of your identity, right to work in the UK, employment history and references, and a basic criminal record check. Appointment will be conditional upon successfully meeting the BPSS requirements.
