Job summary

Wates Property Services (WPS) in Birmingham is seeking a Resident Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join our on-site Facilities Management team with JLL. You will be the dedicated electrical engineer on site, handling planned and reactive maintenance of electrical systems and supporting building services to deliver a first-class client experience.

The ideal candidate holds City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and 18th Edition, with FM maintenance experience, strong fault-finding and health and

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Experience delivering maintenance within a Facilities Management environment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Good understanding of compliance and health & safety requirements.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across electrical building services.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in a timely and effective manner.
• Support maintenance activities across HVAC, mechanical and general building systems when required.
• Conduct regular plant inspections and fault-finding activities.
• Ensure statutory compliance and health & safety requirements are met at all times.
• Manage and update maintenance records through CAFM systems.
• Liaise directly with the client, providing updates and technical support.
• Coordinate specialist subcontractors and monitor service delivery standards.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and energy efficiency.
• Support site audits and compliance inspections.
