Job summary

Sigma Engineering Systems Ltd. is seeking a CNC Maintenance Engineer for on-site work in Northampton. You will perform routine and preventive maintenance on CNC machine tools, diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to keep equipment at peak performance.

The role involves supporting retrofits, responding to urgent maintenance requests, and documenting service work while ensuring safety, quality, and OEM standards are met. Prior CNC experience and a valid driver’s license are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Strong CNC machine tool maintenance skills including mechanical troubleshooting and electrical diagnostics.
• Experience interpreting schematics, service manuals and technical docs.
• Proven ability to plan preventive maintenance and keep accurate records.
• Clear communication to explain issues and coordinate with on-site teams.
• Adherence to health and safety practices around electrical systems and rotating machinery.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on CNC machines to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs and component replacements.
• Support retrofits and upgrades such as control system enhancements and motor changes.
• Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and document service work.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts usage and machine performance.
• Collaborate with customers’ technical teams and provide on-site guidance.
