Job summary

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service in Odiham is recruiting on-call firefighters for a permanent role. You will be on call to respond to a range of emergencies and to engage with the community.

The role requires a minimum of 31 on-call hours per week, and you must be able to reach the fire station quickly after alert. Comprehensive training is provided, with emphasis on physical fitness.

Qualifications

• You don’t need previous experience as we provide a comprehensive training programme.
• Crucially, you must be able to reach the fire station quickly and safely after being alerted to an incident.
• This can be physically demanding and therefore physical fitness is of utmost importance.
• Eligibility requires living or working within 4 minutes of the Fire Station.

Responsibilities

• Respond to a range of emergencies as part of the on-call team.
• Attend community events and engage with the public.
• Support with activities beyond firefighting, including non-emergency incidents as trained.
