Job summary

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Energy Division is seeking an Offshore Electrical & Control Systems Engineer with a focus on Electrical, Control & Instrumentation and Cyber Security. The role involves assessing safety cases, conducting offshore inspections, and providing expert advice to regulate offshore oil, gas and related operations.

You will work within a team of engineers and scientists, delivering proportionate safety solutions while coordinating with stakeholders across the sector.

Qualifications

• Breadth of practical experience in safety-related C&I engineering and OT cyber security in offshore major hazard oil & gas.
• Extensive knowledge of functional safety standards and OT cyber security standards.
• Ability to provide technical advice on compliance with legislation, standards and good practice.

Responsibilities

• Assess safety cases and draw conclusions on adequacy of demonstrations.
• Investigate incidents or complaints as part of a multi-discipline team.
• Perform inspections (on/offshore) and produce reports with enforcement levels.
• Conduct Electrical, Control & Instrumentation inspections across topics like functional safety and Fire & Gas.
• Carry out cyber security inspections for Major Hazard risks.
• Prepare technical reports and evidence for legal proceedings.
• Provide expert health and safety advice on Electrical, Control & Cyber Security within Energy Division.
