Job summary

Badgerbrook Primary School is seeking an experienced Office Manager for a fixed-term maternity cover. The role involves leading school administration, managing finances, and supporting staff and pupils within a dynamic Trust environment.

You will handle cash, supervise an office apprentice, and ensure accurate processing of financial tasks using the Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of administrative, clerical and financial procedures.

Salary: Grade9 Pay Point 19-22, approximate starting salary £30,524

Hours: 37 Hours per week; 42 Weeks per year

Contract Type: Fixed-Term Maternity Cover whilst the Office Manager is on Maternity Leave

About the Role

Badgerbrook Primary School is looking for an experienced, proactive and dynamic Office Manager to take up an exciting, demanding and rewarding post at our school.

As the role is integral to the successful running of the school, the Office Manager must be confident and able to work well as part of a team, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work well under pressure in order to meet deadlines.

The Officer Manager has a key role in the effective management of school systems and you must have a strong administration background, good customer service skills, be able to line manage others and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. You will also need to have excellent numeracy skills as this role will involve cash handling and be an excellent communicator with a professional manner, which promotes a positive image of the school. The role may also involve training and mentoring an office apprentice.

Key Responsibilities

  • To lead in the development and implementation of an effective administrative, clericalsupport service and financial procedures within the School, to ensure that all procedures arecarried out accurately, effectively and efficiently, and where relevant provide maximumsupport for and minimum involvement of teaching staff.
  • To communicate effectively, professionally and in a friendly manner with staff, suppliers,pupils and parents. To be an ambassador for the Trust in dealing with external persons,developing effective lines of communication with all school users and to be a respectedmember of the school team by all staff.
  • To ensure that all statutory returns are completed, including School Census and SchoolWorkforce Census and submitted to the appropriate body in designated timeframes and thatthey comply with the appropriate Government Department standards.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications:

  • Level 2 qualifications in maths/numeracyand English/literacy.
  • Level 3 qualification in business andadministration with post-qualificationexperience, or evidence of equivalentexperience.
  • Certificate in School Business Management

Experience:

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Experience of working in a busy officeenvironment, carrying out a range ofadministrative and financial tasks
  • Experience of carrying out financialprocedures accurately, including invoiceprocessing, bank and payroll reconciliationand VAT claims.
  • Experience of working in a school office
  • Understanding of the context in whichschools operate
  • Awareness of the financial regulations thatrelate to schools/academies.
