Severn Trent Water is seeking a Data Analyst for the ODI Centre of Excellence in Coventry. You will analyse data and models to drive ODI performance, and present findings to senior stakeholders to shape strategic decisions.
The role offers hybrid working with 37 hours per week, and a strong emphasis on data-led decision making and collaboration across teams.
At Severn Trent, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re in the top 5% of utility companies worldwide for employee engagement, and we’re equally proud of our strong Glassdoor score – reflecting how much our people love working here.
Join us to make a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace.
If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.
For the last 8 years, Severn Trent have led the sector for ODI performance, but ODIs have changed in AMP8. The rewards are higher, but so too are the risks.
Ofwat have reduced the ODIs by around 40% and we now have 24 in total, with ODIs being the same for all water companies.
When it comes to reward for good performance, there are more for us to go after, but the penalties can be much higher if we don’t perform.
With bigger risks and bigger rewards, we are truly getting behind our ODIs and are excited for you to join our ODI Centre of Excellence team.
As a CoE Analyst you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between data and business strategy. You will identify improvements and innovations that will drive ODI benefits, cycling through two or three programmes of work with a handful of ODIs at a time.
You’ll support the development of new ideas and ultimately plans to deliver a step change in performance on key ODI’s for AMP8. This will be done by conducting analysis to identify drivers, reviewing innovations that have been rolled out by other companies and creating new ideas utilising multiple data sources.

You’ll be based at our Severn Trent Centre in Coventry. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week.
You’ll join a caring culture that collaborates to achieve, grow, and develop. Our employee engagement scores are among the highest globally in energy and utilities. That’s why, we value in-person moments to keep our culture alive but also understand the flexibility working from home can bring. So, you'll usually find us in the office, but working from home is supported, when you need it.
We are looking for a Data Analyst who excels in statistical analysis and data visualisation, capable of telling compelling stories to non-technical audiences. You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to present your findings to senior stakeholders, offering creative ideas and recommendations to improve ODI performance.
You’ll join the team with a strong analytical mindset, with the ability to define and solve complex problems. You should have experience in utilising data from multiple sources to draw clear findings, as well as experience of writing succinct technical reports and compelling business case papers.
To be successful, you’ll need to have the capability to communicate your findings and progress within a larger team, as well as the ability to provide real added value insight and interpretation of performance outcomes, potential risks, and opportunities. You should be able to articulate and clearly frame these while guiding the stakeholders to the key issues and drivers.
It's expected that you’ll integrate complex, and sometimes disparate, technical information and be able to articulate key points clearly and persuasively using a robust foundation of communication skills.
We’ll also be looking for you to build an internal network with key stakeholders around Severn Trent and be able to manage and prioritise multiple activities at a time.
It’s not just a job you’ll get here, you’ll get a career too.
