Job summary

Severn Trent Water is recruiting a Data Specialist to join the Executive Complaints Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Based in our region with travel to Coventry Head Office, you will build a central data hub and deliver actionable insights.

The role demands advanced SQL, Power BI dashboarding, and strong data stewardship to inform decision-making. You will translate complex data into clear narratives for stakeholders, maintain data quality, and support continuous improvement of complaint

Qualifications

  • Experience writing SQL queries to extract, join, and analyze data from multiple datasets.
  • Experience designing and building dashboards in Power BI, from requirement gathering to insight delivery.
  • Ability to structure, cleanse, and maintain high-quality datasets.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Ability to communicate complex data clearly to a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a performance, reporting, or data-driven environment.
  • Root cause analysis and identifying trends to drive actions.

Responsibilities

  • Build a central data hub from multiple systems for accessible insights.
  • Create bite-sized visual updates and actions for all audiences up to STEC.
  • Analyse complaints data to identify patterns and priorities for improvement.

TheData Specialistis theheart of theExecutive Complaintsteamandisessentialindelivering insightto all other areas of the team, for them to digest and build from.Whetherthat’stakinglearnings,assessing patters andtrendsoridentifyingprioritiesor risks.

As theDataSpecialist,you’llbeusing the data frommultiplesystemsand creating acentral hubfor the information to be stored so it can beassessable and measurable. Whilst alsocreatingbite sized, visual updates and snippets of actions andupdatesfor all audiencesall the way up to STEC.

This role will workMonday – Friday 37 hoursatweek, with flexibility on Office base locationas long as it is within our Region, and you are happy tofrequentlytravel to our Head Office in Coventry.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Experience writing SQL queries to extract, join, manipulate and analyse data from multiple datasets.
  • Experience designing and building dashboards in Power BI, from understanding the requirement through to presenting the finished insight.
  • Ability to structure, cleanse, andmaintainhigh‑quality datasets.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Ability to communicate complex data clearly and effectively to a range of stakeholders.
  • Experienceworking in a performance, reporting, or data‑driven environment.
