Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking an experienced Ocean Export Operator to join a busy Freight Forwarding team in Coventry. You will manage shipments from booking to vessel departure, ensuring timely movement and compliance with international shipping regulations.

This hybrid role offers 1 day per week from home, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm, with an immediate start. The temporary position may become permanent for the right candidate and provides a professional, supportive working environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within Ocean Export Freight Forwarding is essential.
• Good understanding of international export shipping procedures and documentation.
• Knowledge of export customs requirements.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a busy team.
• Experience using CargoWise or other Freight Forwarding systems.
• Knowledge of Incoterms and Letters of Credit.
• Awareness of Dangerous Goods requirements for ocean freight.

Responsibilities

• Manage ocean export shipments from booking through to vessel departure.
• Liaise with customers to obtain shipping instructions and all required export documentation.
• Arrange bookings with shipping lines and transport providers.
• Coordinate cargo collections and ensure shipments meet all cut-off times.
• Prepare and validate export documentation, including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices and packing lists.
• Complete export customs declarations accurately and within required deadlines.
• Monitor shipments proactively and communicate delays or issues to customers.
• Liaise with overseas offices, shipping lines, carriers and customers throughout the shipment lifecycle.
• Raise supplier invoices, complete customer billing and ensure operational files are completed accurately and within company KPIs.
• Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, customs requirements, Dangerous Goods legislation and company procedures.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer service.

About The Role

What Youll Do
