Job summary

WR Logistics is seeking an experienced Ocean Export Operator to manage worldwide vehicle export shipments from start to finish. You will act as the main point of contact for customers, shipping lines and overseas agents, coordinating bookings, schedules and documentation with autonomy.

The role offers responsibility and the opportunity to develop specialist vehicle shipping knowledge within a busy international logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' experience in ocean freight forwarding or export shipping.
• Strong knowledge of ocean export procedures.
• Experience handling shipping documentation.
• Excellent communication and customer service.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end international vehicle export shipments.
• Serve as primary contact for customers during the shipping process.
• Liaise with shipping lines, NVOCCs and overseas partners.
• Secure bookings and manage vessel schedules.
• Prepare shipping instructions and Bills of Lading.
• Complete export customs declarations through HMRC CDS.
• Coordinate FCL and LCL shipments.
• Monitor shipment progress and provide proactive updates.
• Produce customer invoices and maintain records.
• Resolve operational issues quickly and professionally.

Ocean Export Operator. Vehicle Shipping

Location: Bristol

Salary: From £36,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday

I am recruiting for an experienced Ocean Export Operator to join a well-established international shipping business specialising in the worldwide export of vehicles.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ocean freight professional who enjoys managing shipments from initial booking through to final delivery. You will take full ownership of vehicle export movements while acting as the main point of contact for customers, shipping lines and overseas agents.

The position offers genuine responsibility, autonomy and the opportunity to develop specialist expertise within the vehicle shipping sector.

The Role

As the Ocean Export Operator, you will manage worldwide vehicle export shipments from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Managing international vehicle export shipments end-to-end
• Acting as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the shipping process
• Liaising with shipping lines, NVOCCs and overseas partners
• Securing bookings and managing vessel schedules
• Preparing shipping instructions and Bills of Lading
• Completing export customs declarations through HMRC CDS
• Coordinating FCL and LCL shipments
• Monitoring shipment progress and providing proactive customer updates
• Liaising with overseas agents regarding customs clearance and final delivery
• Producing customer invoices using internal systems
• Maintaining accurate shipment records and documentation
• Resolving operational issues quickly and professionally
• Ensuring customers receive a consistently high standard of service

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have practical ocean freight or export shipping experience and be confident managing multiple shipments simultaneously.

Requirements

• A minimum of two years' experience within ocean freight forwarding, export shipping, international logistics or removals
• Strong knowledge of ocean export procedures
• Experience working with shipping documentation
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Good Microsoft Office and general IT skills
• The ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team
• A full UK driving licence
• Experience preparing Bills of Lading, shipping instructions and customs declarations would be advantageous. Additional customs training can be provided.
