Job summary

WR Logistics in Basildon is seeking an experienced FCL Ocean Export Operator to manage export shipments from booking to final delivery. You will own each shipment, ensuring accuracy, timely updates and strong customer liaison to maximise profitability.

Responsibilities

• Manage FCL export shipments from booking to completion.
• Process customer bookings and ensure shipment details are accurate.
• Liaise with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, carriers and suppliers.
• Prepare and check export documentation, including master and house Bills of Lading.
• Monitor shipment progress and proactively manage delays or issues.
• Ensure customs requirements and export references are completed on time.
• Obtain competitive rates, negotiate with suppliers and manage costs.
• Prepare quotations for overseas agents and support new business opportunities.
• Maintain shipment records, operational data and system information.
• Ensure invoicing details and charges are processed correctly.
• Identify opportunities to improve service and profitability.

Position: FCL Ocean Export Operator

Location: Basildon

Salary: £32,000 + bonus + profit share

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30-17:30pm (Hybrid two days from home 3 office based)

We're supporting a global employee owned freight forwarding group, who are recruiting for an FCL Ocean Export Operator to join a growing freight forwarding operation, managing ocean export shipments from initial booking through to final completion. This is a varied role where you'll take ownership of your own shipments, build strong relationships with customers and overseas agents, and play an active part in maintaining service standards and maximising profitability.

The Role

You'll be responsible for managing FCL export shipments from start to finish, ensuring everything runs smoothly, documentation is accurate and customers are kept informed throughout the process.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing FCL ocean export shipments from booking through to completion.
• Processing customer bookings and ensuring all shipment details are accurate.
• Liaising with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, carriers and suppliers.
• Preparing and checking export documentation, including master and house Bills of Lading.
• Monitoring shipment progress and proactively managing delays or operational issues.
• Ensuring customs requirements and export references are completed within the required timescales.
• Obtaining competitive rates, negotiating with suppliers and managing shipment costs.
• Preparing quotations for overseas agents and supporting new and existing business opportunities.
• Maintaining accurate shipment records, operational data and system information.
• Ensuring estimates, invoicing details and additional charges are processed correctly.
• Identifying opportunities to improve service, strengthen customer relationships and maximise shipment profitability.

About You

We're looking for someone who understands ocean export operations and can confidently manage shipments while delivering a high level of customer service.

Ideally, you'll have:

• At least two years' experience within freight forwarding or logistics.
• Previous experience managing FCL ocean export shipments.
• A good understanding of export documentation, shipping procedures and ocean freight operations.
• Knowledge of customs requirements and export compliance.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise with customers, shipping lines and overseas agents.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to take ownership and use your initiative.
