Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Occupational Therapy Stroke Team at Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda, Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB.

As an Occupational Therapy Support Worker, you will work closely with Occupational Therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care, engaging patients and adjusting to their fluctuating needs. You should have good communication, time management, and prioritization skills, with experience in rehabilitation services being advantageous. Additionally, the role involves supporting departmental operations through administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in implementing intervention programs as delegated by OTs.
  • Support therapeutic care modalities and provide delegated patient care.
  • Participate in project work, audits, and statistical reporting.
  • Monitor equipment stocks and ensure supplies are ordered.
  • Promote independence, health, safety, and well-being in various settings.
  • Engage patients in therapeutic interventions, adjusting approaches based on their needs.
Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Good general education, including English/Mathematics GCSE or equivalent, OT OCN credits or NVQ Level 3.
  • Experience in team working and dealing with the public or service users.
  • Administrative skills and computer literacy.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with healthcare professionals and within the NHS.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy and communication barriers.
Personal Qualities and Circumstances
  • Team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Empathetic, caring, and flexible.
  • Able to travel within the designated area and perform the full range of duties.
