Job summary

HealthJobs Ltd is seeking two moving and handling Occupational Therapists to join our team in Slough, Berkshire, with hybrid working arrangements. The role involves comprehensive adult social care OT assessments, complex caseload management, and DFG assessments.

You will work closely with service users, carers and multidisciplinary colleagues to promote independence and safety, while supervising an OTA and contributing to the ongoing project. HCPC registration and an OT degree are required.

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy (HCPC registration required).
  • Ability to manage complex adult social care caseloads independently.
  • Experience supervising staff and mentoring Occupational Therapy Assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments within Adult Social Care.
  • Manage a complex long-term caseload with competence.
  • Conduct and evaluate DFG assessments and recommendations.
  • Perform moving and handling assessments to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Assess and recommend specialist equipment to promote client independence.
  • Develop person-centred intervention plans and collaborate with users, carers and MDTs.
  • Maintain timely records and case documentation.
  • Supervise and mentor an Occupational Therapy Assistant.

What you will do:
  • Undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments within Adult Social Care
  • Manage a complex and varied long-term caseload with competence and flair
  • Conduct and evaluate Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) assessments and provide recommendations
  • Perform intricate moving and handling assessments to ensure safety and compliance
  • Assess for and recommend the use of specialist equipment to promote client independence
  • Develop and implement person-centred intervention plans, tailored to individual needs
  • Collaborate effectively with service users, carers, and multidisciplinary professionals
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, reports, and case documentation
  • Supervise and provide guidance to an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
Requirements:
  • Relevant degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Proven experience within Adult Social Care Occupational Therapy
  • Proficiency in completing DFG assessments and conducting complex moving and handling assessments
  • Experience in assessing and recommending specialist equipment
  • Skilled in managing complex caseloads independently
  • Experience in supervising staff and providing mentorship
  • Strong clinical reasoning and assessment capabilitiesValid driver's license with access to a vehicle for daily use
Desirable Requirements:
  • Experience within a Local Authority
  • Familiarity with the Long Term Team framework
  • Prior experience with hybrid working arrangements
  • Exposure to supervising Occupational Therapy
