Job summary

Sanctuary Personnel Limited is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Optimising Care Team in Reading, Berkshire. This locum role offers working Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00, with a focus on complex assessments, moving and handling, and enabling independence for adults receiving community care.

You will work within Adult Social Care services, conduct home visits, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise care packages and promote safe, person-centred outcomes.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration required.
• Significant Adult Social Care Occupational Therapy experience.
• Extensive Moving and Handling experience.
• Experience delivering and implementing single-handed care approaches.

Responsibilities

• Undertake complex Occupational Therapy assessments within Adult Services.
• Complete complex Moving and Handling assessments, enhancing safety and wellbeing.
• Provide specialist single-handed care assessments and recommendations.
• Develop strength-based solutions to maximise independence for clients.
• Review and optimise existing care arrangements to ensure efficiency and client satisfaction.
• Support reduction of formal care packages where appropriate.
• Provide expert clinical advice regarding Moving and Handling.
• Complete home visits and functional assessments.
• Work collaboratively with care providers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to service development and care optimisation initiatives.

Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
• HCPC registration.
• Significant Adult Social Care Occupational Therapy experience.
• Extensive Moving and Handling experience.
• Extensive experience delivering and implementing single-handed care approaches.
• Up-to-date Moving and Handling training.
• Experience undertaking complex assessments.
• Ability to provide specialist clinical advice.
• Strong report-writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a complex caseload.
• Experience within Optimising Care services.
• Experience reducing care package reliance through rehabilitation and enablement approaches.
• Local Authority experience.
