Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join the Housing Adaptations Team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will assess needs, recommend suitable housing adaptations, and support independence in residents’ homes.

You will balance safety with choice, using building regulations and the DFG framework to implement practical solutions and review outcomes for positive impact.

Qualifications

• Professional degree level Occupational Therapy qualification required.
• Current HCPC registration and eligibility to practice.
• Experience managing Housing Adaptations projects.
• Experience assessing complex needs and making safe, practical recommendations.
• Strong knowledge of Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs).

Responsibilities

• Work with adults and carers in the Housing Adaptations Team to support diverse needs.
• Assess needs and recommend housing adaptations within relevant legislation.
• Use a strengths-based approach and build respectful relationships with service users.
• Apply knowledge of building regulations and DFG framework to deliver practical solutions.
• Review outcomes to ensure needs are met and independence is promoted.
