Job summary

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust in Carlisle invites applications for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist. The post is a 12-month fixed-term contract, 30 hours per week, based on the neurological rehabilitation ward at Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle.

The successful candidate will support stroke and neuro rehabilitation, work within an MDT, and participate in a weekend rota. Training and preceptorship opportunities are available for returning to practice or newly qualified therapists.

Qualifications

  • Degree in occupational therapy and HCPC registration.
  • Experience or exposure to stroke and neurological rehabilitation.
  • Ability to work within an MDT and weekend rota.

Responsibilities

  • Provide rehabilitation for stroke and acquired brain injury within neurology ward.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and develop independence.
  • Contribute to supervision and support for junior staff and learners.
  • Participate in weekend rota and 7-day service requirements.

Occupational Therapist Band 5, Carlisle - 12 month fixed term, 30 hours per week, based on the neurological rehabilitation ward.

We are looking to recruit a flexible and dynamic Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our team at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience within stroke and neurological practise.

The occupational therapy team works 7 days per week and all staff participate in a weekend rota.

This role may be suitable for individuals Returning to Practice or students who are nearing completion of their training. Please speak to the recruiting manager for more information.

Main duties of the job

You will be welcomed into the neurological rehabilitation team where you will have opportunity to develop your skills in stroke and acquired brain injury rehabilitation. You will have the opportunity to work as part of an MDT team, consolidating your skills as an independent practitioner, whilst also developing delegation skills to our dedicated support staff.

You will enjoy the support of a strong Occupational Therapy network across both health and social care, which brings with it professional development opportunities.

You will have access to high quality, regular supervision as well as being encouraged to become an active member of our Band 5 Peer Support Group.

The Trust will provide a twelve month preceptorship period for New to registration Nurses Midwives and Allied Health Professionals.
