Job summary

Cornwall Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the SEND Support Service within the Statutory SEN and EOTAS teams. You will assess children and young people and deliver accessible written reports, often within statutory timeframes.

You will collaborate with our OT colleagues to deliver training and work with schools/settings, under supervision. A supportive training culture is emphasised and valued.

Qualifications

  • Experienced Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration and relevant SEND experience.
  • Ability to assess needs of children/young people and write accessible reports.
  • Comfort with statutory SEND processes and collaboration with teams.

Job description

The Service & Team:

The SEND Support Service works with children and young people with a wide range of needs from 0-25 years and they are at the heart of everything we do. We are a wide range of professionals including teachers, advisors, speech and language therapists and an occupational therapist. We are excited to offer this new role to work with us and our colleagues in the Statutory SEN team and EOTAS team.

The Role:

This role will involve some work with children and young people assessing their needs which are usually around sensory processing challenges. You will be expected to write accessible written reports and be involved in statutory SEND processes. The role will involve close work with our current OT to deliver training and work with schools/settings as well as other colleagues in the SEND Support Services. We place a high importance on training and development. Supervision will be carried out by a suitably qualified OT

Working Pattern:

37 hours per week

What you’ll need to succeed:

You will be an enthusiastic, experienced Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration. You will be able to assess the needs of children and young people (usually around their sensory processing challenges) and provide high quality written reports sometimes within statutory timeframes. You will enjoy working independently and with colleagues in different teams.
