British Airways is recruiting an Occupational Physician to provide specialist occupational health support across the airline, helping colleagues stay fit for work and guiding business health matters. You will work with Occupational Health Advisors, Nurses and other business areas to deliver medical advice and policy development.

  • Full GMC registration with UK licence to practice (essential).
  • Experience in Occupational Medicine and Aviation Medicine desirable (MFOM/AFOM, DAvMed or courses).
  • General practice or other medical experience (essential).
  • Occupational health experience in a large, complex organisation (essential).
  • Experience with air travel health issues (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist occupational medicine advice to colleagues and Health teams across British Airways.
  • Assess and manage occupational health cases, advising on fitness for work and workplace health matters.
  • Support development of occupational health policies and service measures.
  • Offer medical expertise to areas including passenger medical clearance and employee wellbeing.
  • Build relationships across the business and support during incidents needing occupational health input.

The role:

Occupational Physician

As an Occupational Physician, you'll provide specialist occupational health support across British Airways, helping colleagues remain fit for work and supporting the business on a wide range of occupational health matters. Working closely with Occupational Health Advisors, Occupational Health Nurses and business areas across the airline, you'll provide medical advice, support policy development and contribute to the continued delivery of occupational health services.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide specialist occupational medicine advice and support to colleagues, managers and Occupational Health teams across British Airways.
  • Assess and manage occupational health cases, providing guidance on fitness for work and workplace health matters.
  • Support the development of occupational health policies, service measures and ways of working that meet business and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with business areas across the airline, offering medical expertise on areas including passenger medical clearance, workplace health and employee wellbeing.
  • Build strong relationships across the business and provide support during incidents or situations where occupational health input is required.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practice in the UK - essential.
  • Experience and qualifications in Occupational Medicine (MFOM, AFOM desirable) and Aviation Medicine (DAvMed or Basic and Advanced courses in Aviation Medicine King's College London, or equivalent, (desirable).
  • Previous general practice or other general medical experience (essential).
  • Occupational health experience with ability to understand, anticipate and implement occupational health requirements in a large and complex commercial organisation (essential).
  • Experience of health issues associated with air travel (desirable).
