A career without limits

As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.

It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.

This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.

So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.

We know great things can happen when you’re inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways, the sky is never the limit.

The Role: Health Safety & Environmental Advisor

You will work alongside some of the finest professionals in the industry. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our Engineers working on our fleet of aircraft and ensuring that we operate in the most balanced way possible, who in turn keep millions of passengers safe in the air.

What You’ll Do

  1. Carry out risk assessments and formulate safe systems of work within the engineering directorate.
  2. Analyze and advise on health, safety, and environment data, ensuring safe and compliant practices and procedures are developed and implemented.
  3. Evaluate manufacturer and industry data to develop and implement regulatory and manufacturer requirements, recommendations, and industry best practices through engagement with internal and external stakeholders at different levels.

What You’ll Bring To British Airways

  1. Self-motivated, customer-focused, and able to support change.
  2. Excellent interpersonal skills, including written, oral, and presentation skills.
  3. Leadership and communication skills at all levels within the business.
  4. Strong influencing and decision-making skills.
  5. Strong investigative skills.
  6. Experience in risk assessing sophisticated activities.

Your Experience

  1. NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent level 3 qualification (Essential)
  2. Engineering-based degree (desirable)
  3. Membership of a professional body (e.g., IOSH, IEMA) (desirable)

From the day you join us, you’ll get access to brilliant staff travel benefits including unlimited basic and premium standby tickets on British Airways flights. You’ll also receive up to 30 discounted ‘Hotline’ airfares per year for yourself, friends, and family.

At British Airways, you’ll have the chance to take on new challenges and move forward in a way that feels right for you. We encourage all those who work for us to consider opportunities across our business to help you develop and progress.
