Job summary

British Airways is seeking an Occupational Physician to provide specialised occupational health support across the business, helping colleagues stay fit for work and guiding policy development.

You will collaborate with Occupational Health Advisors, Nurses and various business areas to deliver medical advice and support in areas including passenger medical clearance, workplace health and employee wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • GMC licence to practise in the UK is essential.
  • Experience and qualifications in Occupational Medicine (MFOM, AFOM desirable) and Aviation Medicine (DAvMed orKing’s College London courses, desirable).
  • Previous General Practice or other medical experience (essential).
  • Occupational health experience in a large, complex commercial organisation (essential).
  • Experience of health issues associated with air travel (desirable).

  • Assess and manage occupational health cases, providing guidance on fitness for work and workplace health matters.
  • Support the development of occupational health policies and service measures to meet business and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with business areas across the airline, offering medical expertise on passenger medical clearance, workplace health and employee wellbeing.
  • Build strong relationships across the business and provide support during incidents requiring occupational health input.

The Role
Occupational Physician
As an Occupational Physician, you'll provide specialist occupational health support across British Airways, helping colleagues remain fit for work and supporting the business on a wide range of occupational health matters. Working closely with Occupational Health Advisors, Occupational Health Nurses and business areas across the airline, you'll provide medical advice, support policy development and contribute to the continued delivery of occupational health services.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practice in the UK – essential.
  • Experience and qualifications in Occupational Medicine (MFOM, AFOM desirable) and Aviation Medicine (DAvMed or Basic and Advanced courses in Aviation Medicine King’s College London, or equivalent, (desirable).
  • Previous general practice or other general medical experience (essential).
  • Occupational health experience with ability to understand, anticipate and implement occupational health requirements in a large and complex commercial organisation (essential).
  • Experience of health issues associated with air travel (desirable).
