Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Nursing Associate for the Elmdon Intermediate Care Unit, a 42-bed rehabilitation and recovery unit. The role covers assessment, planning and delivery of nursing care, medicines administration, and discharge planning within a supportive MDT environment.

The post involves long day and night shifts; registration with the NMC as a Nursing Associate is required, with opportunities for teaching and development within the team.

Qualifications

• GCSE or equivalent, including Level 2 maths and English.
• Level 5 Foundation degree specific to nursing associate practice.
• For apprentices, completed and passed End Point Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor and review patients' physical and emotional needs, escalating concerns as needed.
• Plan, coordinate and deliver evidence-based nursing care including personal care and mobility.
• Administer prescribed medicines and treatments within scope of practice.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and give safe handovers.
• Communicate with patients, families and multidisciplinary team.
• Support continuity of care across services and promote health.
• Delegate tasks, supervise learners and support workers, and contribute to teaching.
• Follow policies, safety, safeguarding and incident reporting requirements.
• Manage workload and maintain mandatory training and clinical competence.
