Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Nursing Associate to join Ward 11 at Royal Preston Hospital, delivering safe, compassionate post-operative care for elective major surgery patients. You will work closely with registered nurses, healthcare assistants and the wider MDT to ensure high-quality care across Upper GI, Urology, Colorectal and Vascular specialties.

The role requires NMC registration, a Nursing Associate foundation degree, and involvement in assessment, care

Qualifications

• Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register.
• Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification.
• GCSE Maths & English (A-C or 4+) or equivalent.
• Good information technology skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-operative nursing care for major elective surgery patients.
• Take observations, monitor fluid balance, wounds, drains and mobility.
• Escalate deterioration or post-operative complications promptly.
• Support Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) principles and early mobilisation.
• Contribute to discharge planning, MDT communication and infection prevention.
