Job summary

Abacus Ark Nursery is seeking a Nursery Senior Assistant to join our team in Southfields. This full-time role offers a 4-day working week and a focus on high-quality early years education within a supportive family-run setting.

You will support daily routines, develop children's learning through play, and collaborate with parents and colleagues to ensure a positive nursery experience. A DBS check and references will be required.

Qualifications

• Previous nursery or childcare experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain an enhanced DBS check.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Ability to provide 2 references.

Responsibilities

• Support Key Teachers and Senior Key Teachers in delivering daily routines, activities, and care.
• Engage with children in meaningful play and learning experiences.
• Help set up and maintain stimulating and safe environments.
• Assist Key Teachers with observations, assessments, and record-keeping for key children.
• Provide daily feedback to parents when required.
• Act as a role model for Assistants and apprentices, supporting them to learn best practice.
• Help with training new team members in routines, safeguarding, and compliance expectations.
• Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and compliance policies.
• Support with daily risk assessments, accident forms, and attendance checks.
• Provide friendly, professional communication with parents at drop-off and pick-up.
• Support Key Teachers in giving updates on children’s routines and wellbeing.

About the Role:

As a Nursery Assistant, you’ll help create a safe, fun, and engaging environment where children can learn, play, and thrive. You’ll support daily routines, encourage children’s development, and work closely with colleagues and parents to ensure every child has a positive nursery experience.
