Job summary

The Old Station Nursery in Barnt Green is seeking a Nursery Room Leader to guide and support our team in delivering outstanding care and early years education. You will lead, mentor and model best practice, oversee EYFS delivery, and step in for the Nursery Manager when needed, ensuring a warm, safe, and stimulating environment.

A Level 3 Early Years qualification or QTS is required. The role is 38 hours per week over four longer days (Thursdays off), based at 42 Sandhills Road, Barnt Green,

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the team to deliver high-quality early years education.
  • Support the Nursery Manager to ensure smooth operations.
  • Promote initiative, creativity and high standards of care.
  • Build relationships with families and external agencies.
  • Oversee EYFS implementation.
  • Cover the Nursery Manager in their absence.
  • Drive continuous improvement through feedback and development.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive environment.

Pay:£27,664 - £27,664 per Annum, based on experience (40 hours per week).
Working Hours:38 hours per week working over 4 longer days with Thursdays off -7.30-6 daily

Nestled in a converted house, Barnt Green nursery offers a cosy, home-like atmosphere. With five rooms light and spacious rooms and access to three outdoor spaces, children have ample room to learn and develop. Our intimate size sets us apart and created our unique ethos. Barnt Green is conveniently located just 30 minutes from Birmingham city centre and a short 5-minute walk from Barnt Green train station. There is ample parking across the road for your convenience.

What being a Nursery Room Leader involves

As a Nursery Room Leader, you will work alongside the Nursery Manager to lead and inspire your team while delivering exceptional care and education. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and mentoring the team to provide high-quality early years education with passion and energy.
  • Supporting the Nursery Manager to ensure smooth nursery operations and consistent quality.
  • Acting as a role model by promoting initiative, creativity, and high standards of care.
  • Building strong relationships with families, colleagues, and external agencies to support the best outcomes for children.
  • Overseeing the team’s implementation of the EYFS framework, ensuring engaging learning opportunities.
  • Taking charge of nursery operations in the Nursery Manager’s absence.
  • Encouraging continuous improvement through feedback and supporting professional development.
  • Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that meets each child’s needs.
