Job summary

Huish Nurseries @ North Town Primary School is seeking capable Nursery Practitioners for permanent full-time or part-time roles. Start date ASAP with flexible hours 38 per week across 4 days, 8am-6pm; pay scales from £13.47–£14.13 per hour depending on level (L2-L3 or L6) and probation period, plus 24 days holiday and bank holidays.

You'll provide a warm, inclusive environment, plan engaging activities, observe progress, and work with safeguarding policies.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Education or Childcare (or equivalent).
  • GCSEs in Maths and English are essential.
  • Previous nursery experience desirable.
  • Sound understanding of the EYFS framework.
  • Paediatric first aid, safeguarding certificate and food hygiene desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere for children and families.
  • Plan and deliver engaging activities to support development.
  • Observe, assess and record children's progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe setting and adhere to health and safety policies.
  • Follow safeguarding policies and collaborate with the team.
  • Communicate with parents/carers about progress.

Salary: Grade 13 covering pt8 to pt11 based on level of qualification L2 qualified pt7 to pt8 after 6 month probation - £13.47 per hour L3 qualified pt9 to pt10 after 6 month probation - £13.91 per hour L6 qualified pt10 to pt11 after 6 month probation - £14.13 per hour

Location: Huish Nurseries @ North Town

Hours: Full -time and part-time hours available 38 hours per week, all year-round flexible working hours between Monday - Friday. Hours 8am - 6pm across 4 days. 20 hours per week all year-round flexible working hours between Monday - Friday

Annual Leave: 24 days plus Bank Holidays dependent on shift pattern. 2 weeks Christmas Closure of the nurseries.

Contract term: Permanent/Full Time/ Part time

About Us

Huish Nurseries @ North Town Primary School is a well-established, friendly nursery dedicated to providing high-quality care and education for children aged 2 -4 years old, open 49 weeks of the year from 8:00am- 6:00pm Monday to Friday. We believe in creating a safe, stimulating, and fun environment where children can explore, learn, and develop at their own pace.

We are looking for candidates who are able to:

  • Work collaboratively and enthusiastically with a team to ensure high standards of care and education.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers, keeping them informed about their child's progress.
Requirements
  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Education or Childcare (or equivalent).
  • GCSEs in Maths and English are essential.
  • Previous experience working in a nursery or early years setting is desirable.
  • Sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Strong communication skills and a caring, patient approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Paediatric first aid, a current safeguarding certificate and a food hygiene certificate are desirable.
