This private nursery setting based in St Albans is looking for a Nursery Practitioner to join their team.

As a Nursery Practitioner, you will work directly with the Room Leader, Third in Charge, and Deputy Manager to provide outstanding care and education in the nursery. You will receive exceptional support, training, and mentoring.

Salary: £11 - £11.50 gross per hour (£22,880 to £23,920 gross per annum)

Full time: Monday to Friday - ideally 40 hours, but could offer 30 hours.

Purpose of Role:

This role involves delivering high-quality engagement with children, supporting their developmental needs, and maintaining high levels of supervision.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
  1. Complete observation and assessment standards, curriculum to ensure a child-centred approach, and meet the needs of all children in line with the Quality Assurance Framework.
  2. Deliver high standards of care and education, support, and conduct key person 1-1 supervision meetings with families and professionals to support child development and achievement of milestones according to the EYFS, curriculum, and regulatory standards.
  3. Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and legislation from governing bodies, demonstrating knowledge through impact statements, meetings, and practice.
  4. Lead and support the curriculum to ensure a child-centred approach, ensuring observation and planning meet the needs of your designated key children.
  5. Demonstrate effective communication with all stakeholders, including parents, professionals, and colleagues.
  6. Follow health and safety policies and procedures, promoting a high-performing safety culture.
  7. Understand referral processes and engage with professionals for child referrals when necessary.
  8. Understand safeguarding procedures and report concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
  9. Work as part of a team to complete daily tasks such as hygiene standards and room preparation.
  10. Promote the nursery to current and potential parents to support retention and occupancy growth.
  11. Continue professional development to keep knowledge and skills up to date.
Essential Experience:
  • Proven experience working in early years education settings with successful outcomes.
  • Effective collaboration and communication with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ongoing training and professional qualifications since qualifying.
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience in food preparation and relevant training.
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding policies.
  • Highly motivated, meeting deadlines for record keeping and assessments.
  • Current 12-hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
Qualifications:
  • Full and relevant Level 3 qualification or Level 2 qualification (essential).
  • 12 hours Paediatric First Aid (essential).
  • Food Hygiene or equivalent training (can be completed during induction).
