Join Wimbledon Day Nursery as a Nursery Practitioner

We are looking for a qualified Nursery Practitioner to join our fantastic environment!

Responsible to

Nursery Manager/Room Leader

Duties and responsibilities
  • Operate a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children in your area in conjunction with other team members.
  • Keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys and share this with parents, carers, and other key adults in the child’s life.
  • Follow the nursery safeguarding procedures to ensure all children are kept safe, well, and secure.
  • Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
  • Liaise with and support parents and other family members.
  • Participate in out-of-working-hours activities such as training, staff meetings, parent evenings, and fundraising events.
  • Be flexible within the nursery's working practices and assist with tasks like preparing snack meals and cleaning equipment.
  • Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure the nursery’s philosophy is fulfilled.
  • Read, understand, and adhere to all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Record accidents in the accident book, ensuring the Duty Manager has initialed the report before parents receive it.
  • Contribute to the nursery as a whole, focusing on the individual needs of children.
  • Ensure that children are collected by someone known and agreed upon by the nursery and parents.
  • Respect the confidentiality of all received information.
Specific childcare tasks
  • Prepare and complete activities suitable for each child's development stage and interests.
  • Develop your role within the team, especially as a key person.
  • Ensure mealtimes are pleasant social sharing times.
  • Wash and change children as required.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, hygiene, and cleanliness.
  • Keep a poorly child calm and warm, notifying management immediately.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers.
  • Provide a high-quality environment accommodating children with disabilities, diverse backgrounds, or medical needs.
  • Uphold the nursery's high standards both during and outside working hours.

Salary

£27,000-£29,000 for Level 2 & £29,000-£31,000 for Level 3.

Full-time hours ideally 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday), with consideration for a 4-day condensed workweek.
