Job summary

Independent School in Central London is seeking a passionate Nursery Practitioner to join its Early Years team. You will work with the Room Lead to support daily nursery routines, ensuring a safe, nurturing environment where children feel valued and encouraged to reach their potential.

As a key member of the team, you will support learning, care routines, and pastoral duties, while attending school events and contributing to a collaborative, high-quality early years education.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in Childcare/EYFS.
  • Experience in an EYFS setting.
  • Good understanding of child development, safeguarding and wellbeing.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with adults and children.
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and contribute as part of a team.
  • Flexible, adaptable, reliable and committed.
  • Creative, enthusiastic and keen to learn.
  • Good attendance and timekeeping.
  • A positive attitude and good sense of humour.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Room Lead with day-to-day running of the classroom.
  • Help children settle and support personal care routines including toileting and handwashing.
  • Encourage independence, development and positive behaviour.
  • Prepare refreshments and keep the classroom clean and organised.
  • Assist with activities, craft sessions, displays and learning resources.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
  • Support learning and development in line with EYFS.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, parents' evenings and events as required.
  • Undertake pastoral and supervisory duties and contribute to school life.
  • Promote and safeguard the safety and wellbeing of children.

Education

Level 3 qualification in Childcare/EYFS
Degree or equivalent desirable

Job description

A highly regarded independent school in Central London is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Nursery Practitioner to join its Early Years team.

The successful Nursery Practitioner will work closely with the Room Lead to support the day-to-day running of the Nursery and provide high-quality care, learning and pastoral support to children. You will play an important role in creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where every child feels valued, supported and encouraged to reach their potential.

Key Responsibilities

Person Specification
Essential
  • Level 3 qualification or above in Childcare/Early Years.
  • Experience working within an EYFS setting.
  • Good understanding of child development, safeguarding and children's wellbeing.

  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and contribute effectively as part of a team.
