Job summary

Gracelands Nursery School is seeking an Early Years L2 Nursery Officer to join our team. The role is Grade A, permanent, 34.5 hours per week, with a start date in November 2026 (2nd November 2026 / 23rd November 2026).

The post is within a cluster of two nurseries and you will work in one of the two rooms (2-3 or 3-4 year olds). You’ll be supported by a class teacher, Deputy Head Teacher, and an Executive Head Teacher, contributing to our play-based curriculum and safeguarding commitments.

Qualifications

• Early Years L2 qualification required.
• Experience in a play-based curriculum for 0-5 years is desirable.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child wellbeing is essential.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching staff in a Nursery setting and contribute to the delivery of a play-based curriculum.
• Work within one of the two nursery rooms (2–3 year olds or 3–4 year olds) as part of a collaborative team.
• Support the school’s vision and uphold safeguarding and wellbeing responsibilities.

We are looking for an Early Years L2 Nursery Officer to enhance our team to secure outstanding outcomes for all pupils at Gracelands Nursery School. At Gracelands, we pride ourselves on our creative and holistic approach to pre-nursery and nursery education. Our approach empowers children to make their own choices and helps them to be self-motivated individuals. We offer a play-based curriculum, with the children at the centre of everything we do.

Gracelands Nursery School is in a cluster of 2 nursery schools along with Jakeman Nursery School, and cluster leaders and teachers work collaboratively to provide high standards of education. The Nursery Officer will work within a team based in one of the 2 nursery rooms: 2-3year olds or 3-4 year olds. The role is supported by a class teacher, a Deputy Head Teacher, and an Executive Head Teacher. The Nursery Officer will promote and support the vision and direction of the school and the wider Federation of Maintained Nursery Schools.

The Birmingham Federation of Maintained Nursery schools is made up of 9 Nursery Schools delivering inclusive high-quality early education and care to children aged 0-5 years across Birmingham. We have a vibrant and enthusiastic staff of qualified teachers, teaching assistants, nursery officers, play workers, administrators and other support staff who make up our large team.
