Job summary

Love Childcare Recruitment represents an award-winning day nursery group looking for an experienced Nursery Manager to lead the Childwall setting in Liverpool. You’ll oversee a team of 14 staff and around 50 children daily, driving high standards, safeguarding and EYFS compliance.

Salary up to £35k (dependent on experience) with benefits, Monday to Friday, 8am–6pm, and real autonomy with strong support from area managers to shape how the nursery runs.

Qualifications

• Level 3+ in early years or childcare; leadership qualifications desirable.
• At least two years in a management/leadership role in childcare.
• Experience with safeguarding and compliance (EYFS, Ofsted).
• Strong budgeting, occupancy, staffing and funding administration.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of the setting, ensuring EYFS and Ofsted compliance.
• Act as or oversee the Designated Safeguarding Lead role.
• Recruit, induct, supervise and appraise a team of 14.
• Monitor teaching, planning and assessment to maintain high standards.
• Oversee budgets, staffing, occupancy, funding claims and reporting.

Nursery Manager in Childwall, Liverpool - Award-Winning Nursery Group

Up to £35k (dependent on experience) + benefits

Location: Childwall, Liverpool (L16)

Our client is an award-winning day nursery group with a strong, long-standing reputation across South Liverpool. They're looking for an experienced Nursery Manager to take the lead at their Childwall setting, overseeing a team of 14 staff and around 50 children a day.

This is a nursery that does things properly. Outdoor play sessions, yoga, daily mindfulness and a genuine "family feel" run through everything they do, and it shows in the awards on the wall, including multiple Nursery World finalist placings and an award for staff wellbeing. As Manager, you'll have real ownership of the day-to-day running of the setting, backed by a supportive area management team rather than left to figure it out alone.

On offer is a salary of up to £35k, the backing of an established, well-resourced group, and genuine scope to shape how your nursery is run.

Working pattern: Monday to Friday, working shifts within the nursery's 8am-6pm opening hours.

Key responsibilities:

• Leadership and compliance: Take overall day-to-day management responsibility for the setting, ensuring full compliance with the EYFS statutory framework, Ofsted requirements and company policy.
• Safeguarding: Act as or oversee the Designated Safeguarding Lead role, ensuring the whole team knows how to recognise and report concerns.
• Team management: Lead recruitment, induction, supervision and performance management for a team of 14, making sure ratios and qualification requirements are always met.
• Quality and curriculum: Monitor teaching, planning and assessment across the nursery, using self-evaluation and quality assurance to keep standards high.
• Administration and finance: Oversee budgets, staffing, occupancy, funding claims and reporting to the nursery owners and area managers.

About you:

• Qualified: Level 3 or above in early years or childcare, with a leadership and management qualification desirable.
• Experienced: At least two years in a management or leadership role within a childcare or early years setting.
• Safeguarding-led: Confident leading safeguarding practice, staff supervision and compliance across a busy nursery.
• Clear and organised: Comfortable managing budgets, occupancy, staffing and funding administration alongside the day-to-day running of the setting.
