Job summary

YMCA Fairthorne Group in Portsmouth is seeking a Lead Early Years Practitioner to join the nursery leadership team and strengthen practice across the setting. You’ll observe children, coach staff and help ensure early identification and support for those who need it.

You’ll work across rooms, supporting children, practitioners and leaders, with safeguarding at the core and a focus on inclusive practice for all children.

Qualifications

• Experience in an Early Years setting.
• Ability to model good practice and coach colleagues.
• Experience supporting behaviour and SEND needs.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead across the nursery, observing children and identifying additional needs.
• Support key persons to develop appropriate support plans.
• Coordinate referrals and next steps for specialist support.
• Coach practitioners and model strong Early Years practice.
• Embed high standards of care and practice across rooms.
