Job summary

Bright Horizons Witney Day Nursery is seeking an Early Years Kitchen Assistant to support the Chef in preparing and cooking age-appropriate meals for all children, with minimal waste and in a clean, safe kitchen. In the Chef's absence you will run the kitchen, cater for dietary requirements, communicate them to teams, and ensure safety and hygiene standards are maintained.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a cooking role, domestic or commercial
• Passion for nutrition and inspiring healthy eating
• Knowledge of managing dietary requirements, including allergies
• Food Safety Level 2 or above (must be passed on day 1)
• COSHH knowledge
• Excellent communication with colleagues, children and parents
• Ability to work under pressure

Responsibilities

• Support the Chef in preparing and cooking age-appropriate meals for all children with minimal wastage
• Keep the kitchen clean and safe
• In the Chef's absence, run the kitchen and ensure all dietary requirements are catered for and communicated to teams
