Les Petites Etoiles Bilingual Montessori is hiring a full-time Nursery Cook/Classroom Assistant in North London. You will cook for multiple sites, cover main nursery chefs during leave, and support classrooms with children aged 6 months to 4 years. A Level 3 childcare pathway will be pursued after probation.

Expect a 38-hour weekly schedule, Monday to Friday. The role requires childcare exposure, food hygiene certification, and a commitment to organic, healthy menus.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking for large groups of children or staff.
• Level 2+ Food Hygiene certificate or higher.
• Childcare experience and willingness to cover classroom activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high hygiene standards following Food Standard Agency guidelines.
• Prepare a balanced rotating menu for children with dietary needs.
• Assist in classrooms when required and support room leaders.
• Ensure food safety records and kitchen procedures are followed.

Opportunity for a Cook also looking for working in the classroom and complete a Level 3 in Childcare.

permanent position, full-time 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Salary: £26,000 (salary progression once you complete the Level 3)

Les Petites Etoiles Nurseries is a group of 5 private bilingual nurseries located across North London. Our nurseries are situated in the vibrant neighbourhoods of Angel, Crouch Hill, Paddington, Tufnell Park, and West Hampstead. For over a decade, we have been dedicated to providing exceptional childcare services in an enriching and nurturing environment.

Job Role

We are looking to hire an experienced nursery cook who will work across all our 5 locations to cover the main nursery chefs when they are on annual/sick leave. The right candidate will be based in Tufnell Park and will require some childcare experience to cover in the classrooms when necessary.

We are a full-time permanent position. As a Cook, you will be solely responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen. This will include the preparation of an entirely organic set menu plan (provided by the school) which consists of a morning snack (chopped fruit), preparation of lunch and an afternoon snack (varying from smoothies to sandwiches).

As a Classroom Assistant, you will be working across all rooms where ages range from 6 months to 4 years. You will support the room leaders and team within the rooms, giving you great experience as a practitioner and enhancing your development. Once you complete the probation period sucessfuly, we will enroll you on a Level 3 qualification in Childcare!

Ideally, you will have the following:

• Experience preparing food for large numbers of children and or adults.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate or above
• Food Allergen Awareness
• At least one year of childcare experience
• Health & Safety and safeguarding practices

Responsibilities as Nursery Cook

• Maintaining high hygiene standards to ensure a safe working environment following Food Standard Agency/ Environmental Health guidelines.
• Prepare a balanced rotating menu considering the children's dietary and cultural requirements.
• Maintaining necessary kitchen procedures and records.
• To undertake any other reasonable catering duties as requested by the Nursery Manager.
• Ensure all crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are washed following food safety guidelines.
• Ensure that all foods are ready at the specified time and correctly served.
• To implement and maintain the company’s equal opportunities policy, ensuring that children, parents and the staff team are valued, and practice is positive and non-discriminatory.

Responsibilities as Classroom Assistant

The chosen candidate will be responsible for caring for the children, supervising their daily activities, and organising and preparing activities and materials.
