Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Nursery Class Assistant to join a welcoming school in Swansea. The role runs 8:30am–3:30pm with a pay rate of £14.25 per hour (PAYE) and weekly payment.

It is a temporary/ongoing position starting September 2026, supporting Foundation Learning and the wellbeing of young children. The successful candidate will have at least 5 GCSEs including English and Maths, be kind and nurturing, and capable of building strong relationships with children, parents and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, including English Language and Mathematics.
• Kind, patient and nurturing, with a genuine passion for supporting young children's learning and development.
• Can build positive relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues.
• Understands the importance of play-based learning and supporting children's wellbeing and independence.
• Promotes inclusion and has high expectations for every child.
• Works effectively as part of a team and uses initiative when required.
• Is flexible, reliable and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Desirable Level 2/3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years education.
• Experience with nursery/primary children and ALN knowledge.

Requirements

• Experience of supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
• Knowledge of child development and Foundation Learning.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development.
