Job summary

Little Dukes is seeking a dedicated Chef to support its Kitchen team at a children's nursery. The role runs full time, 8:00am to 5:30pm, term-time only, and involves preparing nutritious meals for children aged 0-5.

Ideal applicants will have kitchen experience, a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate, and knowledge of allergens. A passion for safeguarding and working with children is essential in a friendly team.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 Food Hygiene/Food Safety.
• Previous experience working in a busy kitchen.
• Knowledge of allergens and dietary requirements.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
• First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation governing childcare (e.g., Safeguarding).

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality assistance to the Kitchen team in preparing nutritious meals for children aged 0-5.
• Assist with in-room lunch service and food-based activities, ensuring they are stimulating and engaging.
• Create a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow.
• Collaborate with other staff members to support children's individual needs.
• Assist with ensuring the kitchen is clean, organized, and well-maintained at all times.
• Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of all children and staff.
