Job summary

Complete Childcare Ltd in Winnersh is seeking an Experienced Nursery Chef to join a warm team and provide nutritious meals for children under five. The role emphasizes safe food handling, dietary awareness, and compliance with health and safety rules.

The position offers a 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with a competitive salary based on experience and qualifications and lunch breaks included. Training and career growth opportunities are provided within the setting.

Qualifications

• Experience as a nursery chef or cook in a childcare setting.
• Ability to prepare fresh, nutritious meals for under-5 children.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and safety procedures.
• Flexibility to work 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide fresh, nutritious and well-presented meals, including snacks, suitable for children and babies under five, according to nursery menus.
• Maintain a high standard of hygiene and follow infection/cross-contamination control procedures.
• Be aware of Special Dietary Needs and refer to allergies, intolerances, cultural needs and vegetarian requirements.
• Carry out Health and Safety duties (Risk Assessments, COSHH, RIDDOR) and update daily records.
• Ensure stocks in the dry store are rotated daily and managed through weekly shopping orders.
• Support other settings and transportation of meals when required.

Salary: £27,414,40

Hours: 40 hours, Monday to Friday

Your main role and responsibilities will be to:

• Provide fresh, nutritious and well-presented meals, including snacks, suitable for children and babies, under the age of five, according to the current nursery menus
• Always maintain a high standard of hygiene and to follow infection / cross contamination control procedures
• Have awareness of Special Dietary Needs ‑ referring to food allergies, food intolerances, cultural needs, vegetarian requirements etc
• Be aware of and carry out duties in connection with Health and Safety at work (e.g. Risk Assessments, COSHH, RIDDOR etc) and to update daily records
• Ensure stocks in the dry store are rotated daily and stock is monitored and maintained through the weekly shopping order
• At times you may be required to support other settings and transportation of the meals
