Job summary

Melton Mowbray Day Nursery, part of Grandir UK, is seeking a caring Kitchen Assistant to support the chef in preparing nutritious meals and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen.

You will assist with food production, service and presentation, help with purchasing through approved suppliers, and cover shifts during the Cook's absence while supporting the nursery team.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen or catering environment preferred.
• Ability to follow menus and food safety requirements.
• Willingness to support cook and team as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food production, service and presentation to meet standards.
• Help manage kitchen budget by purchasing supplies through approved suppliers.
• Respond to feedback on catering operations promptly.

What You'll Be Doing

• Ensuring all food production, service, and presentation meet the required standards.
• Carrying out all catering activities in line with the allocated budget.
• Responding promptly to any feedback regarding the catering operation.
• Purchasing supplies through approved suppliers.
• Ensuring compliance with all aspects of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
• Covering all duties during the Cook's absence.
• Assisting within the nursery rooms as directed by the Nursery Manager or Cook.
