GSL Education’s North Yorkshire branch is currently looking to appoint a qualified Nursery Assistant for a Client Primary School located in York, North Yorkshire, starting as soon as possible.

Nursery Assistant Requirements:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or equivalent.
  • Additional training in Special Educational Needs is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting
  • Be knowledgeable of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, principles, and practice.
  • Experience or understanding of behaviours of children with special needs.

Nursery Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Work with the class teacher to support early years children within a special educational needs school.
  • Assist in the delivery of play-based learning activities.
  • Support children on a 1:1 and small group basis.
  • Use sensory resources and approaches to support learning.
  • Monitor and promote children’s physical and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of children’s progress.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers regarding children’s progress and needs.
  • Hold a Child Only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one with GSL Education
