Job summary

Ashgate Hospicecare is seeking a Part-time Nurse Team Leader for our 10-bed Inpatient Unit. You will combine clinical leadership with day-to-day management of the nursing team, coordinated with the Ward Leader, to ensure high-quality care and staff development.

The role requires NMC registered nurses with experience in palliative care, leadership, and a commitment to governance and compassionate teamwork. Opportunities exist to expand responsibilities as service needs grow.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Degree level education or willingness to undertake further study.
• Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development.
• Qualification in palliative care or relevant advanced clinical practice, or willingness to undertake.
• Management or leadership qualification.
• Teaching or mentorship qualification.
• Advanced Communication Skills Training, or willingness to complete.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the nursing team on the 10-bed Inpatient Unit.
• Coordinate rotas and ensure safe staffing levels.
• Support sickness and absence management and staff performance.
• Provide clinical guidance and specialist palliative care support.
• Contribute to clinical governance and quality improvement.
• Deputise for the Ward Leader when needed.
